Why do you think foreign languages should be taught at a young age? Why not?

Please tell me how you feel about languages being taught in elementary schools.

When do you think foreign languages should be started in school?

no doubt the younger the better as far as learning goes, but since there’s so much information to cover in the kindergarten-2nd grade curriculum, i think languages should be started in third grade. Then the kids are old enough to choose between some offered languages, are still fairly young, and have some time between everything else they have to learn.

What are some career options that deal with foreign languages?

My question might be really confusing so I’ll try to clarify.

I’ve always loved languages and I’m quick when it comes to learning them. I want to have a career where I can use languages, but I don’t know what there is that I could do.

I’m going to take classes in college for either French, German, or Japanese. Which would you suggest and what career could I pursue with it?

How does one become a professor of foreign languages?

Chris C asked:

I am fluent in Italian and I think it would be awesome to teach Italian..it would probably be at the college level becuase I usually never hear of high schools or junior high schools offering Italian..maybe private high schools do, but I’m not sure. What kind of degrees would I need? A Master’s and PhD in Italian? Also, would I need to be fluent in another language? It seems most of my professors in undergrad who taught a foreign language knew at least 2 languages.

What’s a good university in the US for someone interested in foreign languages?

aplusjimages asked:

My sister is in high school and is looking for a college that is known for teaching foreign languages, so she can teach abroad. She’s mainly looking for Japanese and other Asian languages.
