How can I continue to learn a foreign language without attending college?

thegirlyoulove90 asked:

I’m not sure if I want to attend college as of now. (Don’t worry, I have plans if not). However, I know that I want to learn the Spanish language. This will be my fourth year of instruction at school, but I will have taken 6 classes by graduation. My point is, are there any foreign language institutes? Are there any study abroad, or immersion programs that I could attend only to learn the foreign language? I haven’t been notified of these options, and I would really like to know more about them. Please answer if you know. Thanks!

You have to say where you are. In Greece, where I live, there are foreign language institutes in every neighbourhood. I don’t know what happens in your city. Try asking the Spanish or Mexican Embassy or Consulate near you, they will know, or they may know a teacher they can recommend.

Well it sounds like you want firsthand experience with the language – try doing volunteer work with a spanish newspaper or online blog; there are lots of publications out there looking for translators and student workers (even if you’re not an official student).

There are also lots of books with audio cds out there. The “Colloquial” series is okay, the “Learn to Speak” ones are okay (but may be a little too below your level). Those are at least cheaper than Rosetta Stone software. Try this:
