For speaking a foreign language Michel Thomas is amazing. It is a liguaphone type course, only a million times better.

The CD’s are available on ebay, and other good book stores.

Otherwise a lot of night schools teach languages.

I know how you feel about foreign languages! I myself felt the same way in high school. A good way to learn is to enroll yourself in FL classes at your school, or a local college. If you would really like to experience a language, buy yourself a aeroplane ticket and travel! I know that sounds drastic (well… I guess it is) but it is the best way. You totally immerse yourself into surroundings where you have to force yourself to acclimate. When I was 18, I went and backpacked through Switzerland for a year, and I am now fairly fluent. I interned in Canada at a horse farm that housed students from all over Europe. They had no knowledge of the English language. Through my interaction with them, I can get by in German, Norwegian, Gaelic (yes!), and Polish. I am fluent in French (my husband is from France) and Spanish and Latin from high school. The best way is to just go and enjoy it.
